Dr. Jean Marie Place, PhD, MPH, MSW, is an Associate Professor of Public Health at Ball State University specializing in maternal and child health. She focuses her work on studying adverse experiences in a woman’s reproductive life such as postpartum depression, sexual violence, infant mortality, and maternal substance use disorder. She has worked as an international consultant for the World Bank, UNICEF, Save the Children, and the National Institutes of Public Health in Mexico, leading the qualitative design and analysis in multiple research projects. She co-founded and co-leads the Addiction Coalition of Delaware County, which has helped to obtain more than 3 million dollars in substance use services for Delaware County. She serves on the board of Open Door Health Services and the Delaware County Prevention Council.
