Join us as Kristen McConnell and Dawn Brand Fluhler present “Putting together your Fundraising Toolkit”.
We know that not everyone likes to ask others for money. However, annual campaigns, capital campaigns and special project campaigns are the bread and butter of running most nonprofit organizations. We believe everybody can plan an important role in fundraising. “Putting Together Your Fundraising Toolkit” will cover campaign planning and management, fundraiser roles, how to make the ask, and stewardship. Be forewarned: you might find out that fundraising isn’t as difficult or scary as you imagine!
Kristen McConnell and Dawn Brand Fluhler have worked together on the YMCA of Muncie’s Annual Campaign for three years. Together they have taken an unbranded, unthemed and underfunded annual campaign to a 100 percent+ funded campaign through their continuing education and research, company tools and best practices, and staff and campaigner training events. They have both completed the IU School of Philanthropy’s Principles and Techniques of Fundraising program.
Kristen has 14 years of YMCA experience, where she is currently the Executive Director of the Yorktown Y location. Throughout her entire career at the Y, she has been a leader in fundraising, both from a dollars-raised standpoint, and from that of a leader/teacher to other campaigners. She is also a very active resident of Albany, Ind., in Tri Kappa, the Beautification Committee, and as Chairwoman of the Independence Day Celebration Committee. She is also a Yorktown Chamber member and past Muncie Exchange club member. She and her husband Mat have two children, Chance and Mati.
Dawn has worked with the YMCA of Muncie for 6 years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from BSU. As the Y’s Marketing and Special Projects Director and Brand Advocate, she oversees all advertising, public relations, social media, website maintenance, photography, storytelling, the Annual Campaign, Annual Meeting, and use of the Y logo and other brand assets. Her activities include Girl Scout leader, church volunteer, 4H volunteer, PTSO past president, Hearts & Hands United board member, and part-time work at Premiere Dance Center. She has four children, Katie, Gabriella, Hannah and Luke, and a sweet Granddude a/k/a Ethan.
