Our presenter will be Dr, Courtney Jarrett, the 2016 ATHENA Young Professional Award recipient. Dr. Courtney Jarrett is the Associate Director of Disability Services at Ball State University where she serves over 800 students with disabilities annually. While her Associate Director role encompasses most of her day at Ball Sate, Dr. Jarrett carves out time to teach Women and Gender Studies to undergraduate students. Her work has ensured that feminism is prominent on Ball State’s campus and that students are more aware than ever of issues pertaining to women. Recently, Dr. Jarrett finished her book, Not Your Momma’s Feminism, for beginning students in Women’s and Gender Studies. Because of her work in the Women and Gender Studies department at Ball State, Dr. Jarrett has won the Women and Gender Studies Faculty Award and the Multi-Cultural Center’s Inspiring Figure for Women Award.
We will also be voting on new Executive Board Members at this month’s luncheon and hearing about a few 2017 updates for membership. Our sponsor this month is Morrison Woods Health Campus.
Each holiday season, WIBU seeks to give back and support the mission of a local not-for-profit. This year, we ask you to join us in supporting Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity believes that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. The organization builds and repairs houses using volunteer labor and donations. Their partner families purchase these houses through no-profit, no-interest mortgage loans or innovative financing methods.
Help us support their mission by bringing these items to our December meeting. The items will be distributed to Habitat families as they move into their new homes.
